Don't Ever Use Ava's Flowers

I wish I had done my research before ordering a gift basket from Ava's. I ordered the Gourmet Gift Basket which was supposed to include cheese, crackers, cookies, chocolates and some fruit. All that arrived in the basket was an apple, orange, six bananas and a small bunch of grapes... for $88. Their customer service reps are just the worst. First they tried to appease me with a 10% refund to my account. It took three calls to customer service- demanding that they send the correct basket. Then they said that their local vendor was waiting to hear what I wanted in the basket! I said I want what is in YOUR picture on YOUR website. Finally today a half-assed attempt at another basket was sent- and I am done. I will never use this company again. They are a disgrace, and I can't believe this "family owned" business continues to operate.

Avas is a sending only call center and not a real florist. They wire your order to a real florist and send them about half of what you paid and that total sent also includes the real florists delivery.

So, if you paid $88, the real florist received $44 and had to take their delivery fee out of that total. Most charge between $10 and $15 (some more depending on distance and if the delivery address is in a rural area) So... if the florist charged $15 for delivery, that $44 just turned into $29 in fruit, the basket it came in, time paid to the employee who assembled it, the plastic wrap, ribbon for the bow and card attached so the driver knows where to deliver it.

Right now the only wire service Avas is allowed to use is the FTD Mercury system. Complain to FTD as well.

Wish I'd read the reviews on this site before ordering from Ava's Flowers. When I placed my order by phone this morning, I explained that the recipient would not be home until after 3:00. The salesperson assured me that the delivery would be made after 4:00 p.m. today. I found out later that they had written the order up as a "rush" order to be delivered by 3:00 with an additional charge, which I'd never agreed to. Shortly after 2:00, I received an email saying the delivery couldn't be made because no one was home and that you would try again tomorrow. (In fact, someone else was home all day but they are sick and could not have answered the door.) I called to find out why the delivery attempt was made at the wrong time. All they said was that they would deliver them tomorrow. The flowers were for an important occasion Today so delivering them tomorrow would be too late. I then asked to cancel the order and was told that I will only receive a partial refund because they could not refund the driver's and designer's fees. So I am being charged for something I did not receive and did not request. That is stealing.

I specifically requested an arrangement of camellias for my parents 70th wedding anniversary (the same flowers used in their wedding arrangements). I was charged over $70! What was delivered was a bunch of carnations stuck in a vase - I could have bought the same at Walmart for $10 This was a surprise, so the recipient did not know what was paid or what was requested. Consequently, I didn't know about this switch until I received pictures from other family members a couple of days later. Avas has refused to credit or adjust the amount paid even tho they acknowledged what was delivered was not a $70 arrangement. In other words - they don't care!

Order was placed on 3/29/17 for total of 68.93 including delivery. I specified the service was at 11am on 3/30/17 and was told the order would be delivered the morning of 3/30/17.

I received an email from Avas Flowers stating the actual delivery time was 3:35 pm on 3/30/17. When I called customer service they offered me a store credit. I told them I did not want a store credit that I wanted a refund. The rep stated I could not get refund because the order was delivered.

I stated yes, but it was delivered late and I asked to speak to supervisor. Rep stated supervisor would tell me the same thing and placed me on hold. Rep came back and stated she could give me 10% (4.99). Reluctantly I agreed.

Upon further research I found their refund policy: "Non Delivery/Late Delivery - With respect to all delivery policies stated in this section, in the event that no delivery attempt was made and the order was not delivered on the requested delivery date, we will offer the Customer (i) a re-delivery attempt; (ii) a credit towards the purchase of Products; or (iii) a full refund, at the Customer’s option." I emailed CS with this information and requested balance on my order (63.94) to be applied to my account and was denied. I asked several times for refund and kept getting denied. CS states order was delivered on time even though delivery email states otherwise. Upon further research I discovered they are not a local florist as they advertise.

They are in NJ.

I am in SC and placed the order for NC. I have attached copies of emails.

I place an order on 3/29/17 for a funeral that started at 11am on 3/30/17. Per their email, the actual delivery time was 3:35pm, 4 1/2 hours after the service. Customer Service was curt. Per their late delivery policy, I requested a full refund, but was only offered a 10% refund because the order was delivered (late). This business also advertises that it is a local business, and it is not. I am very disappointed in the service I received from this business. Their policy: Non Delivery/Late Delivery With respect to all delivery policies stated in this section, in the event that no delivery attempt was made and the order was not delivered on the requested delivery date, we will offer the Customer (i) a re-delivery attempt; (ii) a credit towards the purchase of Products; or (iii) a full refund, at the Customer’s option.

I can't believe a business as poor as this could exist! I ordered two arrangements for my wife's memorial service...it was delivered as one arrangement...not anything close to what I ordered and couldn't even get the name correct that I spelled out for them. Their webpage is extremely misleading as it makes you think you have contacted the local florist. Even when I specifically asked to talk to the local florist, I was lied to. They are NOT an FTD member florist as their webpage would imply and any follow up service is non-existant. I will cancel payment as my only recourse, but does nothing to right the situation. DO NOT order anything from this service...you will be very dissappointed.

I spent $127.00 for a vase of flowers for a wake. Was promised a beautiful bouquet.

a small bouquet of drooping, half dead flowers were delivered! When I complained to the BBB, via E- Mail I received a call from Avas saying I would receive a 20% discount. I refused. A few weeks later I received another call offering $40.00 off.

$87.00 for half dead flowers? I told him "NO"! I am very angry about the half dead flowers.

Should have looked "behind" their impressive website. DO NOT USE THIS Florist!!!!!

Avas is a paid member of FTD. This allows them to use the FTD Mercury system to wire orders to local florists.

However, they misrepresent you, their customer, with what they sell on their website and what of your money they send to a real florist. Most reputable florists will not deal with them as they are one of many sending only call centers. They have two hubs: one in NY and one in NJ but are located somewhere overseas. You can always contact FTD and file a complaint with them.

They are already not allowed to use the Teleflora Dove system and the Bloomnet system from 1800flowers. The more people complain to FTD, the more likely they are to ban Avas from using their system. It gives FTD a bad name to continue to let these throw-off call centers use their Mercury system to wire out orders to reputable florists. Teleflora, FTD and 1800flowers are also sending only call centers, so always try to call your local florists.

Look for actual local addresses and local phone numbers, not 800 numbers. Some of these call centers will advertise in your local yellow pages phone directory. When searching online scroll down until you see local numbers and addresses.

These call centers are the first ones that list on the search engine. Hope this helps.

Purchased an arrangement at a total cost of $95. Upgraded to the "Premium" bouquet from the "Deluxe" bouquet pictured on the website. The delivered arrangement is possibly the ugliest arrangement I've ever seen. Lack of flowers with no effort taken to arrange the flowers. NO artistry involved. I've attached images to show what I received compared with what was shown online. I contacted "customer service" to reconcile the obvious issues with the arrangement. There response I received from Dorothy W was the following: "after reviewing the recipe of this particular arrangement all flowers are represented accordingly. Therefore, your order has been approved and meets the Product Description as well as our Substitution Policies". They declined any refund. They declined to fix the arrangement. I will never purchase from these scam artists again.

I contacted customer service after I saw the abysmally small bouquet order that was delivered to my fiancee. I order one bouquet EVERY month for her, and have done so for the past 24 months. This time I decided to utilize Ava's Flowers and I ordered the PREMIUM bouquet for an additional $40. The bouquet was the height of a pencil.... Compared to all of the other sites I've used, the size was laughable. I contacted customer service. They said it was perfect. Okay, so since I order at least one and sometimes two bouquets a month for holidays, CLEARLY I don't know what I'm expecting. They did not offer a refund, they did not offer a replacement. They simply said the flowers in the bouquet (approximately 10 stemmed flowers) were beautiful and that it WAS indeed their largest bouquet. Why am I writing this review? To save you from the unfortunate mistake I made and save you from wasting your money on their site. Do yourself a favor and call a local florist. They take extra special care of you :)

I cannot even find the right words to express how infuriated and disgusted I am with Ava's Flowers. Let me start from the beginning. Isent an arrangement to my daughter's house be used as the centerpiece for our Thanksgiving table on Friday, 11/25/16. Oncethe arrangement arrived, my daughter and I both realized the quality was atrocious. The flowers were not fresh, it was mostly daisy and carnations (not the roses and lilies that were pictured) and there was one baby blue and one lavender candle. Not only did the candles not match, but they were pastel - hardly appropriate for a fall arrangement! There was one lone white rose. It was painfully obvious that the florist just took whatever scraps that were lying around after the holiday to create this monstrosity. I am including a picture of what was ordered vs. what was sent. We immediately called Ava's and explained the situation. The gentleman my daughter spoke with assured us that he would send the florist out to pick up the arrangement right away and we would receive a full credit. Fast forward to Saturday morning, the wilting arrangement was still at my daughter's house. We called Ava's Flowers again and were told that the flowers were not picked up because they were deemed "suitable." Between me and my daughter, we spent upwards of FOUR HOURS on the phone with your company on Saturday. We were offered everything between a $10 store credit to a new, "bigger and better arrangement." We repeatedly asked to speak to a manager. At least ten times were put on hold for a member of the "executive team" only to be disconnected after a few minutes. On FOUR different occasions we opted for a call back at a later time and did not ONCE receive a call back. At this point, my daughter turned to social media and posted a review on Ava's Flowers Facebook page including a photo of what was ordered vs. what was sent. Numerous people commented on the poor quality of the product. Someone from the company did leave a comment asking my daughter to send a personal message with the order number so the problem could be rectified. She sent the personal message over four days ago and has yet to receive a response. The flowers didn't even last 2 days. My daughter posted a follow-up picture on Ava's Flowers Facebook page showing how much the flowers were wilted on day #3. My daughter called Ava's Flowers company yet again on Tuesday in an effort to speak with a manager. The first time I talked to Neal and he assured her that she would not be disconnected and would in fact get to speak with a member of the "executive team." She waited on hold for approximately 10 minutes and then the call was disconnected. She immediately called back and spoke with Jose. He once again gave her the runaround and refused to either #1 refund the order or #2 connect her directly with a manager. She was once again placed on hold. She then chose the option for a return call between 1:30-2pm. that call has also not been returned. My daughter sent an email on both of our behalves to manager@***.com on Tuesday evening and Keisha N has been nothing but rude. She will not converse with my daughter, but insists she will only speak with the customer (me). I immediately sent her a follow-up email and she still refuses to discuss the situation saying it "can only be done over the phone," yet she will not call me or give her a direct number in which to contact her. In all, we have spent at least 8-9 hours trying to get this problem corrected, been hung up on upwards of 15 times and not received the return phone call I was promised five times. I STILL have not been able to get in contact with any member of management. They are crooks!

The flowers I ordered from Avas flowers were delivered on time, but neither the bouquet nor the card were what I ordered or paid for. Even after receiving a phone call from Avas flowers about substituting one of the flowers in the arrangement, I told them they needed to at least have roses, and the blue & purple colored flowers in the anniversary bouquet, as those were my wife's favorite colors. The lady with Avas flowers assured me I would get the colors in the arrangement I paid for (and as was pictured on their website). Avas flowers delivered the totally wrong bouquet. I also paid Avas flowers for the upgrade to a full size printed greeting card, but instead my wife received the tiny standard card with the company logo on it, and a badly scrawled version of the message I had specified in my initial order with them. I did not get the upgraded large printed greeting card I paid for, but Avas flowers made sure they kept my money though. Their satisfaction guarantee is a colossal joke, and they seem to make it a point to make it clear to their customers, they are in the business of not being at all concerned about customer satisfaction. They offered me a $10.00 refund on my purchase of over $100.00. Stay away from Avas Flowers.

I ordered flowers for my anniversary for same day delivery at 7am. By 3:30pm, they were not delivered. I called and they stated that they would be there at 4. At 4:15 I called again, new delivery time will be 4:45. Nope. Called again to change the address since they would no longer be at work. Not an option, they will deliver the next day, first thing. Next day, called at 10am, they will be delivered by noon. They were at 11:30. The colored vase did not arrive. I asked for a refund, now I am waiting for a MANAGER to approve my $5.99 dollar refund on a vase I didn't get. They will call me back within 3 minutes, which was 15 minutes ago. I will never, ever use them again.

I ordered an arrangement of tulips to be delivered to ManorCare NORTH in York, PA yesterday, 3/22/2017. They never arrived. I called your customer service number and was connected to an associate named Jasper who was no help whatsoever. No one knows where the flowers are. At first Jasper said he would redeliver the flowers tomorrow. Then he called back and said there would be an additional $18 charge. Then he called back and said the charge would $26, at which time I cancelled the order. I feel as though I have been scammed. Jasper refused to let me speak to a supervisor. I will NEVER order flowers from your company again, and I will tell everyone I know not to order from you. Order #415**** Cynthia Shortall cshortall@***.net

I placed an online order for flowers to be delivered to my sister for her 40th birthday, flowers were supposed to be delivered by 4pm, I called them 3 different times and they kept saying delivery was in transit. The flowers were never delivered. I contacted them for a full refund and they send they couldn't refund me the money instead they offfered a 10% discount.....Really?? anyhow, i finally spoke to a Supervisor and he said he would refund me minus the cost of goods sold... and I quote "the flowers i picked out for you" What kind of business does this?? Buyers beware- Use a reliable flower shop!! This business will not refund you even if they are at fault. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!

Ordered flowers, paid $112 and some change, yeah i know, but i love my mom. Paid 9.99 for expidtied shipping to get to her at school friday, and guess what they never came. Called the first time, he said be patient theyll arrive any minute, i told him i want a refund for the 9.99 he said okay. She never got them, and still hasnt FIVE days later. I called again friday afternoon said i wanted my order cancelled. He kept offering me 2 dozen red roses cheap and blah blah i said no my mom soesnt even like roses, he said oh your mother love these. I said no, i politely declined three times, and then had to raise my voice. He finally said okay and saaid id get a canncellation email shortly. A couple hours ago i get a "rescheduled delivery notice". I called again, got a girl, who could barely speak english like the first guy, she also offered me roses for cheap again, i said no 4 times. FOUR time i politely declined and she wouldnt listen, i literally had to curse at her. Then she said okay well youll get an email i said no give me the cancellation number now she put me on hold for 20 minutes then gave me a number that may or may not be real. I turned it over to my credit card company and am disputing the charge. They shouldnt be allowed to scam people like this, its unacceptable and infeel like its against the law. Charging for a service never provided, but im not a lawyer... whatever. Learn from my mistake, DONT order here

Absolutely a joke of a Florist. I sent my sister flowers for her birthday. Not only did they come a day late. It they were absolutely embarrassing. I added images of what I ordered and what was sent. When I called the service they were polite to tell me that there's nothing they can do but give me 10% back and say sorry. Absolute joke, I will never be using another website to buy flowers. I will stic to edible arrangement that never disappointes.
